Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Your child will work on critical early literacy concepts, phonological and phonemic awareness, , letter knowledge, letter/sound relationships, spelling patterns, word structure, and word solving actions.  Students will leave the class prepared for a successful first year of school.

Reading Success Gr. 1

Reinforce the five fundamental components that each child needs to learn to be a successful reader: fluency, comprehension, phonics, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary.  This course will also emphasize the reading and writing connection that is vital to our child’s growth in language arts.

Math Skill Building Gr. K - 1

Each session in this course is aligned with Georgia Performance Standards and designed to improve academic progress in math. All activities are hands-on and allow students the opportunity to learn by building, examining, solving, and exploring math through the use of manipulatives. Key math concepts covered will include number sense, money, simple addition, patterning, subtraction, fractions, time, and measurement.

Exploring Science Gr. K - 2

Bubbles, bugs, batteries and more! Your child will explore the wonderful world around us and learn how it works with your very own science coach who will teach you how to write up a real first class science observation. Guided by Second Grade Georgia Performance Standards, your child will gain important skills in both language arts and math.  Students will work toward strengthening processing and application skills necessary for success in the second grade.  Pre-second graders will work closely with an experienced second grade teacher within a small group environment.

Writing Can Be Fun! Gr. 3 & 4

Have fun and master critical skills necessary for new writers.  Students will explore the elements of writing: idea generation, organization, voice, sentence structure and fluency, style and technique, and grammar.  A culminating piece of writing will be shared with parents at a literary celebration.
